Trailblazer Families,
Regular school attendance is very important. Students who attend school on a regular basis have demonstrated that they achieve at higher levels than those who have spotty attendance. We encourage all students to attend regularly and for parents to communicate with the front office when a student is absent. If your child is absent, have them check with their teachers to make up any assignments they missed and to attend tutorials.
You may see some construction crews around North Central in the upcoming days. They are doing some work to renovate student and staff restrooms.

Trailblazer Family Night: Plan to join our next Trailblazer Family Night on Thursday, November 17 at 6:00 pm. At this event we will have a parent/guardian social activity, short announcements, breakout informational sessions, food, drinks, and prizes. We hope to see you there.
Volunteer Opportunity: With keeping North Central a safe an inclusive campus, we have the opportunity to partner up with our families to be additional support in our restroom monitoring. If you have capacity to sign up for a reoccurring volunteer opportunity during the school day, please reach out to Ms. Valentin via email at mirna.valentin@yesprep.org. Thank you for your support.

Familias Trailblazers,
La asistencia regular a la escuela es muy importante. Los estudiantes que asisten a la escuela de forma regular han demostrado que logran niveles más altos que aquellos que tienen una asistencia irregular. Alentamos a todos los estudiantes a asistir regularmente y a los padres a comunicarse con la oficina principal cuando un estudiante está ausente. Si su hijo está ausente, pídale que consulte con sus maestros para recuperar cualquier tarea que haya perdido y para asistir a las tutorías.

Spirit Fridays – November 18
We encourage and invite all students to participate in Spirit Fridays! Each Friday for the rest of the semester will have a theme in which we encourage all students to participate and dress accordingly. This next Friday, November 18, is Twin Day. Students are encouraged to pair up with a friend and come to school dressed like twins!
Student Health
The flu season is here, and we want to remind parents to monitor their students’ health and potential symptoms. Do not send your students to school if they are experiencing two or more symptoms. We ask that you be proactive about your students’ health and the health of other students on our campus.
Flu Shots Available with Legacy Health Clinic
The Legacy Health Clinic here at North Central Secondary, a resource that is open to the entire community, can provide flu shots to students. Parents and families can call 713-574-9702 to set up an appointment with the Legacy Health Clinic.
Enrollment Lottery is Open
Families, our enrollment lottery is now open – this means that families can now submit applications for their students to attend YES Prep campuses for the 2023-2024 School Year. Please visit https://www.yesprep.org/families/enrollment-lottery for more information and to apply for the lottery.
School Start Time
Reminder: school starts promptly at 8:30 AM. Students are expected to be IN their first classroom by 8:30 AM. Please ensure you are doing everything possible to build positive routines and habits to get your student to school on time – every minute of school matters.
Student Medications
Students are not permitted to carry any medications to school (this includes prescription AND over-the-counter medications. All medications should be brought to school by the parent/guardian, and turned into the School Certified Medical Assistant, Ms. Martinez. The School CMA will then distribute the medications to students as needed or prescribed.

Cada viernes durante el resto del semestre tendrá un tema en el que animamos a todos los estudiantes a participar y vestirse en consecuencia. Este próximo viernes 18 de noviembre es el Día de los Gemelos. ¡Se alienta a los estudiantes a formar parejas con un amigo y venir a la escuela vestidos como gemelos!

La temporada de gripe está aquí y queremos recordarles a los padres que controlen la salud y los síntomas potenciales de sus estudiantes.
